Progressive music in Argentinia part 2 : Mostly the slightly more heavy or complex symphonic prog rock side. * Cyclos Rec. M.I.A. : Transparancias (ARG,1976)***° Tr.5, "Transparencias" 20 min Bonus track Tr.6 "Primera Inspiracion" 4 min Symphonic group around the family of Litto Vitale in the old 70's sense, but played with nice tempo changes, with some Bach adaptations. Most of it is not yet a classic for all times but it has much potential in the complete score. But the 21 minute track has that full strength (of being *****). Live bonus tracks as jazzy improvisation piano pieces are ok too. * Cyclos Rec. M.I.A. : Cornostipicum (ARG,1978)***** Tr.1, "La coronacion del farre" 5 min Tr.2, "Imagen III" 5 min * Tr.6, "Cornostipicum" 18 min 30 Wonderful very structured complex symphonic compositions with mostly acoustic Layers, but also a few el. outburst. Talent of musicians is incredible. The work can best be heard in its complete score. Third album of the group. Also the bonus tracks with professional guitar work are good. * Prog Rock Redd : Tristas Noticias del Imperio (ARG,1978)****° Tr.1, "Sad News from the Empire" 1O min Tr.2, "Kamala" 5 min 15 Album made with help of M.I.A. Very good drumming, bass. Very badly recorded bonus tracks but very interesting album. A classic. * ReRunner Crucis (ARG,1974)****° Tr.2, "Mes" 6 min Tr.4, "La Triste Vision Del Entierro Propio" 5 min Tr.6, "Determinados Espejos" 7 min Tr.7, "Recluso Artista" 7 min 25 Sometimes hard rock but at the same time it's even jazzy and often classical flavoured symphonic progressive. Very good rhythms section, but also interesting for the rest of the instrumentation (keyboards,el.bass,el.guitars,...) * ReRunner Crucis : Los delirios del Mariscal (ARG,1975)*** Tr.11, "Abismo Terrenal" 13 min This track contains over the top el. guitar solo parts. * ReRunner Gustavo Montesano : Homenajo (ARG,1977)° Too melodic music for my kind of taste. Solo work of Crucis keyboard player. * Microphon Sui Generis : Pequeñas Anécdotas sobre las Instituciones (ARG,1974)***° Tr.8, "Tema de Natalio" 7 min Symphonic fusion with attention to keyboards. * Les UPLA Miguel Abuelo & Nada (ARG,)****' Tr.4, "El Muelle" 7 min Tr.6, "Recala Sabido Forastero" 5 min Tr.7, "Octavo Sendero" 6 min 18 Very good musical range of voice, from hard rock until a more experimental A.Branduardi kind of voice temper. Music is very varied, from folk prog until hard prog rock with very varied arrangements (like some classical arrangements but even some electronics). A classic. * Mardel-X Contraluz : Americano (ARG,1973)**° Tr.2, "Sin Trabajo" 7 min Hard prog rock (like the Spanish Nu or the Mexican Nuevo Mexico) with some influence of Jethro Tull. I heard their later work "Dr.Jeckill" which is not so interesting. * Diapason Vox Dei (ARG,1971)****° Tr.7, "Cristo-muerto y resureccion" 11 min Bluesy mostly hard prog rock item. Very good. Based upon an actual interpretation, or review/overview of the bible. This is for the Easter period. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More information about the played Argentinean groups at http://progressive.homestead.com/ARG_GROUPS.html
