INDIVIDUAL PROGRESSIVE MUSIC GROUPS :

* Aldemaro Romero : "he invented a new kind of music at the end of 60's and the first

70's half. He called it "Onda Nueva". It was a jazz fusion venezuelan folk music, with very

complicated tempos. He has created many kind of ensembles: Jazz trio (he is a virtuoso

piano player), jazz fusion band (electric bands like Chick Corea's), venezuelan folk fusion

ensembles (electric groups plus folk venezuelan instruments), full orchestra (he is a

director too), choral ensembles, etc.Aldemaro Romero is a very renown classic and

modern composer, he has also composed suites, symphonys, concertos, etc. The

London Royal Philharmonic has played and recorded his works, and he was invited to

play and direct the Philo with the Onda Nueva fusion band at the early 70's.

When you look for his music, be careful: he has made every those kind of music through

40 years, you can find any kind of record and music. I recommend you specially any

recording until 1978, if you want to listen his trademark fusion music. Any other more

recent could contain more folk or classic oriented music. There are two compilations from

his better years: "Onda Maxima" (the best) and "Onda Brava".I also recommend Biella

Da Costa, Gerry Weil, Julio D'Ascriban, Andres Briceño, Manoroz and Ensamble

* Amarok is a Spanish group but Robert Santamaria is born in Venezuela.

The group regularly performs there as well. Their style is prog and
